I've tried several cooling eye masks. The common problem is that the plastic is too stiff, so they don't conform to the contours of the eyes and eyelids. This one claimed that it would do so, and sure enough it did.

My other worry prior to purchasing was that the "pearls" would not be sufficiently cold.Gels are cold enough for my, usually, but the problem is that they don't conform well enough to a delicate part of the body like the eye (they work fine for elbows, knees, etc.) But my fears were allayed on first usage. The pearls are definitely cold enough.(What this means for me is that the is cold enough so that I momentarily gasp when first touching it to my eyes, after which it feels very nice.)

How long does the chill last?About as long as a gel-based product, which is all I can ask for.Nothing lasts as long as actual ice, wrapped in a cloth napkin. But of course the problem with that is that it drips everywhere and it's inconvenient to hold it against your eyes. Whereas the head strap on this product works well (it fastens easily, and the strap itself is slightly elastic).

"Ah," you ask, "but will it help reduce the bags under my eyes from too much work and too little sleep?"The answer is: I don't know.Maybe.But at least it feels good in the meantime.
